Work has steadily continued at the Oatlands Allotment in Glasgow – a new ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ group for this year! On our last visit for the launch of the Beautiful Scotland 2010 campaigns, all they had was a plot and some very poor soil. Since then, they have turned the soil over, put in handy paths, dug a trench and started their planting off with potatos & peas. It’s Your Neighbourhood group gets involved in National Spring Clean! April 27, 2010
25 Friends of the Barnhill Rock Garden ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ group were joined by ten Cub-Scouts from Monifieth with two of their leaders. The Cub-Scouts carried out the “litter-pick” collecting a mix of bottles, cans and waste paper. The Friends concentrated on their annual spring clean – weeding, planting and working on the renovation of a Scree Bed. Treats supplied by Greggs, who sponsor the National Spring Clean campaign, were much appreciated – particularly by the Cub-Scouts! Garden rubbish amounted to about four barrow-loads and this was moved to the composting area.
Congratulations on reaching 90 – and still going strong! April 15, 2010

Beautiful Perth welcomes in Spring with a splash of Colour April 9, 2010
Beautiful Perth has welcomed in the Spring with a huge array of purple and yellow blooms.
Thousands and thousands of crocuses and daffodils planted by local volunteers from the beautiful Perth group, under the theme “Operation Springtime”, are bringing a striking splash of Spring colour to the Western Edge in Perth beside the Broxden Roundabout area.
In stark contrast to the winter snow and frost which covered the area just after the bulbs were planted by a team of volunteers in late Autumn, the 129,000 purple and yellow blooms are the centre of attention for residents and visitors to the City alike.
The Chairman of “beautiful Perth”, Euna Scott said – “the “beautiful Perth” Committee would like to thank everyone who has contributed to “Operation Springtime”, which has been made possible thanks to the generous funding from an “Awards for All” grant. We have had a huge number of complimentary comments about the new planting, which has absolutely glistened in the recent sunshine. We know the display will continue to bloom during the Spring for years to come bringing appreciated pleasure to many”.
